You know what I mean? The week between Christmas and New Years, when no one does anything constructive! Hubby's company is shut down, their suppliers aren't supplying, etc... I swear, no one does anything but shop!
The kids brought the grandkids over on the 23rd for Christmas--they got presents, ate, fed the alpacas, played on the playground.... Then they went back home, to begin the 'gifting' orgy that happens with the other grandparents. We did nothing on the 24th...Hubby was still recovering from the food poisoning on Wednesday. Then Christmas Day we drove to Louisville and hung out with our friends and all their dogs, and all our dogs--what a zoo! We stayed over and drove back yesterday.
We didn't hear anything from the 'rock stars', who drove to Mankato for the Holidays. I'm assuming they made it! And no doubt had a fine time, and will turn back up in Indiana next weekend. Maybe even in time for our son's birthday party on New Year's Day.... Of course it's supposed to rain and/or snow next weekend, so it's hard to tell.
Now it's time to box up the Christmas goodies and get back to what passes for 'normal'. I still have a sock to finish this year! LOL!
Happy New Year!

A day in a car...
Yesterday we took off with all 3 dogs and headed out to make a big circle and see our family! First was the 1 1/2+ hour drive to our daughter's, where we got fed and got to watch Andrea decorate Hannukha (I never know how to spell that!) cookies and stayed longer than we should have. Then another hour West and a visit to my Mom, in the nursing home. The "Time Zone Warp" got me on that one. We showed up just AFTER her husband had taken her to church, so ended up waiting an hour for her to come back. :( Then another 1/2 hour on the road to our son's--where we were greeted by a dozen cats, 2 dogs and no humans. The humans DID show up before we left, and all to soon, it was 7PM and we were still 2 hours from home! 2 hours of snaking, hilly, 2-lane roads in the dark... The dogs were very good, except for Molly who decided to roll in something stinky at the farm... Aside from that, they got a lot of sleep!
It's looking like 3 clear days in a row, coming up! Followed by rain at the end of the week. So we're probably looking at at least a 3 day paycheck. That's 'do-able'. :) I've still got shopping to do, but it looks like it'll have to wait under the rain gets here, since there's still only one car! Maybe I'll call Sue and offer to buy her some gas to take me to town! Then I get to see her AND do what I need to do!
Thank you to everyone who has sent Christmas cards... The fact that I haven't sent any out, yet, doesn't mean I don't care!!! I'm not sure what it means, besides that I am a died-in-the-wool procrastinator...
Okay, is Monday...Laundry Day, right?

Puppious Confusious
Yes, Trouble is homely, but cute! Here he is, freshly bathed and combed! That's as good as it gets!Well, we started out with the paper training--and it seemed to be working part of the time, at least. So I thought I'd be clever and buy a box of 'wee wee pads' to use instead of the papers. They're like giganto pampers, without the folding parts. Anyhow, after a couple of trips to the pad, today the little darling has left puddles here and there, all over the living room! Lucky for me, I know that Borax poured on the spot will suck it right out of the carpet and make the whole thing disappear! I have also learned to NOT walk around in my sock feet! The lesson to be learned from this adventure is "never get a new puppy in the winter"! So much easier to house train if you can toss them outdoors to do their business....
Still no propane bottle delivery. But today's high temp outdoors was 57! That's what the temp was in the RV Friday and Saturday! Called this morning and told the answering machine that I'd really like to know what happened to my delivery last week. Eventually, the office girl called and told me this long song and dance about them only having one guy capable of setting a tank and he could only do 3 a day and he had orders from people who had called in weeks ago, blah, blah, blah. Like I believe that this little 2 horse county needs 3 tanks set ever day! So, now TOMORROW is my turn. Oh well. Things happen for a reason--turns out I had ordered the wrong size tank anyhow and would have gotten one the size of the one we used to have at our mobile home!
WaaaHooo! I now have pressurized water and a sewer drain! We went out to breakfast, then to Kmart, then Lowe's...and came home and Hubby hooked up the afore mentioned luxuries. It's also been warm enough out today that the heat pump could run, so it's even been comfortable indoors! Oh, and I washed a load of clothes in my little washer--which then spent the afternoon attempting to line-dry...and failed. Sunshine might have helped...

3 dog night
Another one. At least it only got down in the teens, instead of down to 9! Meanwhile, the gas company didn't bother to show up with a tank of propane yesterday, and naturally there's no one in the office today. And the emergency pager gets me nowhere, since I don't have a local phone number. Obviously the guy with the pager thinks to himself "must be a crank, since it isn't local"--and didn't call back. So we're still rationing our little 30# tank...
Hubby had to work 8 today, so he's no help! Looks like we'll be taking a drive to the Interstate and searching out the nearest Flying J to get propane tomorrow! At least there's a warm up coming!
Ah, the joys of RV living...

Puppy training

Welcome back to the Dog Blog, here in Antarctica! Brrrrr! We went from warm and sunny to frigid, practically overnite! I finally found a propane dealer that would put a real tank out here in the campground today! Good thing, too, because we're on our last 30# bottle, as of 6:30 AM--and it's 7 degrees out!
Puppy training is not progressing well. Sometimes we use the papers--and sometimes NOT. And I have NO IDEA why he occasionally leaves a surprise on the couch! Ugh. I ordered a bundle of "wee wee" pads, to use instead of newspaper, but it's taking it's own sweet time getting here! This picture is of the gang yesterday--this morning the black and white one (Kizzee) is UNDER the brown blanket! It's that kind of day... Little "Trouble" is thrilled--the big dogs let him into the pile! He is a pack member, at last!
It's officially the Christmas Season here, now. I put up the tree yesterday. I very nearly 'bagged' the whole thing, but since the boxes were already indoors and it was too cold to take them back outside and store them, I put it up. I doubt that the grandkids will get over here to see it, so I skipped the candy canes this year. In fact, I'm pretty sure we're going to Louisville for prime rib with friends on Christmas Day. Our daughter and her hubby are off to MN for the Holidays, and our son and family get sucked into the vortex that is his wife's Family Festivities.
Made copious amounts of oatmeal/raisin cookies yesterday and today I think I'll make persimmon bread with the pulp that I thawed out over a week ago! It hasn't begun to bubble yet, thanks to vacuum sealing, so the bread won't have that 'tang' to it, but it'll be good. The bread comes in handy for last-minute gifting...I stocked up on cute melamine Holiday plates that are just the right size for that. Think I'll fire up the bread machine, too--I seem to have overstocked on flour, for some reason???
Hubby is still working! He has worked EVERY DAY this week and they are scheduled to work tomorrow, too! It'll be his first full week of working since we came back from SD back on Memorial Day! What a weird summer! Of course, the check is already spent! They need $317 to bring out the propane tank and fill it, paid rent yesterday and the RV payment is due next week... and so it goes! :)
So, daylight has broken. Guess I'll get dressed before anyone shows up!
Oh, I forgot to mention--for our old IBMC readers.... Sue came out for coffee the other morning! We haven't seen Jack and Sue for years! He's still got his bike, but sold the camper and truck. They're both reasonably well, for 69 and 70...and still surrounded by kids, grandkids and a GREAT grandchild! (Did I mention that we're living about 5 miles from where they live? Well, we are! Pretty cool!)
Now, I'm going to get dressed......

Dogs think they rule!
Some days, they do! Our household now boast 3! Mom is still the Alpha Female (also known affectionately as the Head B......ch), but some days, I have to struggle to keep my place!
We were gettin' by in the RV, with the Rat Terrierist and her Pound Pal...
But then I just couldn't resist getting this little bitty guy from a KY rescue....

To say that Molly and Kizzee were "less than impressed" is an understatement! What did THEY need with a scroungy-looking, flea-bitten orphan in their nice, ordered world? But, I AM the HB around here! And I wanted him. He was born in the Shelter, to a Bichon mom, with a bunch of little Bichon brothers and sisters--all white, of course. Making him the Black sheep, as it were! We're guessing HIS daddy might have been a Yorkie, judging by his looks and his terrier qualities. Anyhow, after a serious of names that didn't stick--he became "Trouble".
And so begins the training! Hubby still refers to him as "Willie". You know, willie poop here, willie poop there, where oh where willie poop next! Right now, he's pooping in Southern Indiana!
Later....
